The Municipality of Haarlem has been looking for a suitable location for special residential care facilities for some time now. These ‘Domus Plus’ and ‘Skaeve Huse’ can be built at four possible Haarlem locations.
Domus Plus is a protected form of housing where 24 people live with addiction, psychosocial or psychiatric problems, and often also an intellectual disability. Skaeve Huse are small, simple houses for singles who cannot adapt to life in a normal residential area and cause a lot of nuisance there.
When all research has been completed, these facilities will be built at two of the following locations.
- at the monumental North Akendam farm, at the Vergierdeweg 452/454
- on the green plot south of the cycle path and the flyover at the Robertus Nurksweg
- on the west side on the pasture that belongs to the farm at Nieuweweg 2
- on the site of the wastewater treatment plant (AWZI) Schalkwijk, Boerhaavelaan 57
Local residents, businesses and neighborhood councils from these four locations have been invited to a digital information meeting, the municipality reports. At the beginning of next year, the decision will be made about the two final locations. For more information you can visit this website of the municipality.
