A transport ban for poultry farms in a part of Kaag en Braassem has been announced by Minister Carola Schouten of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. This is because bird flu was diagnosed at a poultry location in Mijdrecht.
The ban applies ten kilometers around the location where the bird flu broke out, so also in a part of Kaag and Braassem. The transport ban in the municipality applies to the area on the east side of the N207 in Leimuiden and Rijnsaterwoude. Schiphol is outside the area with transport bans, as are the motorways to it.
It concerns a ban on the transport of poultry, eggs, poultry manure and used bedding. The ban also applies to other animals and animal products that come from a company where commercial poultry is kept.
In total, about 300 birds have been culled at the poultry farm in Mijdrecht. This was necessary to prevent the spread of bird flu.
