Raiffeisen store manager Dieter Ehlers can still well remember the beginnings in Oldendorf. In the summer of 1992, the house and garden center opened under his management in a converted fertilizer hall. Until the hardware store opened next door, there were also a few selected building materials in the range. Between 1990 and 2005 there was also a potato hall and a department for agricultural accessories on the site.

On around 300 square meters in Oldendorf, Raiffeisen customers will find a range of local supplies for house, garden and pets. The atmosphere is familiar. Dieter Ehlers is with almost all regular customers and likes to advise and chat « op Platt ». But: « The size of the market in Oldendorf no longer corresponds to the current standard, » says Thomas Regensdorff. « Our modern markets in Himmelpforten, Stade-Bützfleth, Fredenbeck or Harsefeld offer much more choice, overview and shopping convenience in a larger area. » After the closure, Dieter Ehlers will move to the Raiffeisen store in Himmelpforten. His trainee Niklas Friedrich will of course continue his apprenticeship as a retail salesman at RAISA eG. « Our trainees learn at different locations anyway in order to get to know the entire spectrum of the company, » says Thomas Regensdorff.

In addition to the Raiffeisen store, the neighboring team building materials center will also close at the end of June. The operators explain this decision with economic, organizational and structural reasons. Background: The Raiffeisen market in Oldendorf is the smallest of the 22 Raiffeisen markets in the region. It has been used up in terms of the building fabric and no longer meets the requirements in terms of size. In addition, in Himmelpforten there is a modern and large Raiffeisen market just 6.7 kilometers away, which is easy to reach from Oldendorf. The petrol station and the car wash in Oldendorf should, however, be retained.
