On Wednesday 22 July, a French tourist staying at the « les Hauts du Lac » residence, was walking along the Canal du Midi in the town of Homps.
He was attacked by three stray dogs, including a particularly aggressive pit bull. Bitten in the calf, he owed his salvation by jumping into the canal to escape them. He was taken by the fire brigade ambulance because his injury required treatment and possibly a rabies vaccine.
According to our information, these dogs are often free and malnourished.
The gendarmes, also called to the scene, will most likely do what is necessary to find their owner and avoid these untimely attacks in the future.
