New! LGBT youth provision in South Warwickshire

WCVYS have been working with the Youth and Community Service and Terrence Higgins Trust to try and establish lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender provision in South Warwickshire. For more information email victoriajones@warwickshire.gov.uk

Quality Assurance Systems in Participation

WCVYS have been comissioned through funding from Coventry and Warwickshire Infrastructure Consortium (CWIC) and Capacity Builders to support an increased number of organisations to achieve Warwickshire Award for Involvement or Hear by Right.

The Warwickshire Award for Involvement and The National Youth Agency Hear by Right standards are recognised awards that celebrate the involvement of young people in their organisations. WCVYS will support its affiliated members to identify and meet gaps in their provision and thus increase participation in their groups. The Development Worker will work through the standards with the organisation, enabling them to achieve the standards and raise their profile as an organisation.

Neets Projects

The WCVYS Development Worker supports Voluntary Organisations who are in receipt of funding from Coventry and Warwickshire Connexions, to work with young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET).

Voluntary organisations can apply for grants to carry out projects with young people which will give them the skills and confidence to enter into employment, training or education. The Development Worker offers support and guidance to all VCS organisations as well as acting as a link person between the Voluntary Sector and Connexions.

The commissioning process for 2009-2010 is almost complete and information will be published shortly on the projects which have been commissioned. Voluntary Sector organisations in Coventry and Warwickshire can apply for funding to work with young people who are NEET.

For more information about applying for Grants contact either Helen Smith at WCVYS on 01926 413611 or Tracy Southam at Connexions on 02476 707437
